more about the project

High school is where we go to “come of age”, to leave our childhood behind and discover who we want to be in this world. It’s a time for first loves and first heartbreaks, milestones like a first job, school dances, applying to colleges and graduation, and a deep exploration of identity and self-discovery. But what happens when that process is entangled with a year of remote learning, isolation, civil unrest, divisive politics, overt institutional racism, and a global pandemic taking the lives of millions? Lost and Found: Coming of Age in a Pandemic asks hundreds of high school students to capture that experience, and to share it with the world in the form of a letter. They will reach out to our audience in an attempt to create understanding, and to ask for support. What will you write back?
